Hi friends! I’m so glad you are here and I can’t wait to share more of my story with you. It didn’t begin when I reached 215 pounds. Nope. It began long before that.

My husband and I were married in 2005 and in 2007 we decided to start our family. We were SO excited and in short order we were pregnant. I was crazy excited because the first time you become pregnant is always the biggest miracle. In this wave of excitement I might have had one too many “celebration foods”.

Unfortunately we lost the baby. I honestly didn’t even think that was possible. I mean I think I had vaguely heard of miscarriage but I never thought it happened to regular people. I was super disappointed and might have had one too many “consolation foods”.

Soon we became pregnant again and instead of happy like I was the first time I was scared. I wasn’t safe to enjoy because I felt like at any moment it could be snatched away. During this time of uncertainty I might have eaten one too many “safety snacks”.

The pregnancy actually went quite smoothly but after the birth I was diagnosed with severe post partum depression. It was one of the darkest times in my life and I might have had too much junk food because I felt like my world was falling apart.

Fortunately I got help and medication and soon I felt like my old self again. Unfortunately I had established a very unhealthy habit of dealing with life using food for emotional support.

Life went on and I miscarried four more times and had two more healthy babies. (If you are counting I was pregnant EIGHT times over a period of FIVE years.) I’m sure you already have the picture in your mind of me eating my way through that! I did. And after the last miscarriage I was up 100 pounds from my starting weight. I was beat up by the sadness, happiness, hormone fluctuations and exhaustion. And that extra 100 pounds was not helping at all.

This is where I became a Weight Watcher. But my journey to health was NOT going to be a fast change. After all, I had been using food the wrong way for five years… it wasn’t just going to switch back without a fight. And so I fought, for the next ten years. (Yes you read that right.)

I started my Weight Watchers journey in Rochester, MN then moved to Albert Lea, MN before moving again to a small town in Arizona. Connect has been such a help because my real life friends have been in and out with my moves and my connect friends are always in my pocket! I have valued this relationship builder so so much and CONNECT and the people in it deserve a lot of credit for me sticking with this program!

I’m proud to say that I am down 60 pounds and I am going to keep going until I reach goal. If you are on connect please come find me!
